I have made some posts before, including one like this but I didn't get much of a response so I'm writing again...

I am 19 years old and I don't have any experience in film making but I am sure I have the natural ability and I am absolutely positive I have the entusiasm.
I am looking for people in the Devon area who are just as committed as me. I want to work with people who want to make original movies which are moving, intelligent and which stand out from the endless stream of shit.
I want to hook up with people who are ambitious and who don't regard film making as just a casual hobby, second to clubing, football, whatever. I am sure there are others out there like me so come on, I'm sick of dreaming - lets do it!

If I can't find anyone near me I would be willing to move away but anyway get in touch my address is in that icon above.

    --- Matt

Yeah I know how it sounds but sometimes you just know these things. I am just trying to get across to people that I am devoted and I know I can succeed.

There are also a hell of a lot of things I know I wouldn't be good at.

I am sure there are others who knew that films were their thing before they started.

When I was a kid I was damn sure I was going to be a BAsketball star...OOPS I missed that one. biggrin

I know what you mean. GO FOR IT!

Why do you need other people to help. Go out and kick some ass. Along the way I'm POSITIVE you'll make some great connections/acquaintances. I met a writer in New Zealand over the inernet that I work with exclusivly. These rooms are the best place to get it going!

If your heart is in the right place...I guarantee you'll do ok!

    GOOD LUCK!

need any help e-mail me @ [email protected]

Thanks for the positive words guys.

Yeah I have wanted to be all kinds of stuff over the years (race car driver, ninja assassin you no the sort of thing) but being an actor/film maker has always been the main thing. The only thing I knew I would be good at.

I could make a film on my own but I work best as a team. It bugs me when I read posts from people saying that their actor or whatever has run off or lost interest. What the hell could be more important than being involved in movies huh?

Hi Matt, so you werent that impressed with my
    email. So it goes.

People will be more interested in helping you once you have proven you are interested. Grab a camera (borrow it if need be) and shoot things. It sounds to me like you are saving yourself up for the big perfect movie in your head. Get some practice, learn what its about. I promise once you have one film finished (even if its an animation short, or you are the only actor in it) then people will be more interested in helping.
    Good luck.

eddie didn't you get my reply? Sorry something must have gone wrong I will send it again.

I am not just waiting for something big. I would be willing to do absolutely anything (well almost). I just want to get started.

It seems that maybe I've come across as being arrogant or something, that could not be further from the real me. I am just trying to get across just how enthusiastic and devoted I am to this whole movie thing.

just wanted to clear that up.

Buy a Super8 and start playing. Making films is definitely an interest that is improved upon when you work with others. If you can't find any people where you are move to Canada. Mention the word "film" here and you have to beat the people off you with sticks. It's cool. good luck. Shoot. Shoot. Shoot. Shoot some more.

    Tash.

Ps. If you wan't to move here send me an email. OK. cool.

    Again I'll say...

    JUST GO DO IT.

Movie making isn't that hard to do...initially...before all the crap is thrown in on top of it. Pure Naive Movie making is as simple as going out, borrowing a camcorder (yes that shitty one your friends parents own biggrin ) and shooting little stories.

    FLASHBACK WARNING:

When I was 9 I remember finding a Super 8 in my Grandma's attic. My best friend and I (who is now my DP) whould go out and just film stupid stuff. Little War stories with cap guns, and light saber duels.

Moral, Don't worry about his grandiose, preconcieved idea that you have to use lighting techniques, have a Sound guy, a DP, a focus puller, a catering service. Just go out and make movies...No matter how cheesy they are. That's where you learnt the most valuable asset to a new film maker. CREATIVITY. You learn to make do with a friend whos never acted cast in the leading role, you're forced to actually <GASP> direct him and tell hime what to do. That's directing. You're forced to make do with a $5 budget and make things work accordingly. There's no need to have to post and ask for people to help. Like I said before if your hearts in it, people will see you mean buisness and join your little film making wagon and soon you'll be making Titanic: the sequel!

So in conclusion...JUST MAKE MOVIES! simple as pie. All you gotta do is be CREATIVE...which is something that's been lost in modern film making so if you learn that...<winks at you> YOU'RE SET MY FRIEND!!

    Have fun,
    J16MM/35MM (i've upgraded!)
